Real Bedford Ladies Reach Record Numbers Against Kings Lynn

Real Bedford Ladies achieved a 13-0 victory over Kings Lynn Town Ladies on Sunday as they recorded the biggest win in the league so far maintaining their perfect record in the process.

Despite what the scoreline may suggest, Kings Lynn left it all out there on the pitch. With limited players available as well as injuries throughout the game, the away side showed character and fight throughout the 90 minutes. Credit must go to their young goalkeeper, who pulled off some spectacular saves to keep the scoreline down at points during the match.

Real Bedford Ladies however, continued to show their class. 6 minutes in Bedford thought they had their first as Tash Fensome slotted the ball in the back of the net but the linesman had his flag raised for offside in the build-up.

However 5 minutes later, Bedford got their lead. A tempting through ball was played through to Cesca Partridge who beat the keeper to her right to gain the advantage on the scoresheet.

Fensome soon collected her goal as she was next to score, finding space in behind once again, this time rounding the keeper and tapping it into an empty net.

The next goal was well worked by Bedford. Zara Carroll with a quickly taken free-kick found Amy Reed in open pasture. Reed progressed towards goal with the ball before firing a shot from 25 yards out into the back of the net. A superb goal to make it 3-0.

Real Bedford were then awarded a penalty for a challenge in the box moments later, which was calmly dispatched in the bottom left corner by Gemma Croucher. 30 minutes into the game and Fensome managed to grab her brace. In what was almost a carbon copy of her first goal, the inform attacker rounded the keeper again and smashed the ball into the vacant net.

Cecsa Partridge was soon to get her second as well, Zara Carroll’s strike initial strike was saved well by the Kings Lynn keeper, but the follow up fell to Partridge who tapped it in for her second.

Moments before the half time break, Bedford got their 7th. This through CJ Martin who cut inside from the left flank and slotted it past the keeper just before the whistle.

Second Half

The Pirates weren’t done there though. With Gemma Croucher getting herself on the scoresheet once again early on in the second half. Poking an effort from Fensome over the line to bag her brace.

The second wonder goal came from Jasmin Ajayi, another long range strike this time from further out. An unstoppable rocket from the midfielder to make it 9-0 inside 60 minutes.

Neve Mayes soon got in on the action, picking up a great cross from fellow half-time substitute Sophie Billing, firing it into the top left corner. Doubling down on that effort with another goal moments later, this time one on one with the keeper, Mayes effectively converted her chance to make it 11.

The next goal was well worked by Priya Bhatti who played a incisive pass to CJ Martin for her second goal of the afternoon. With Gemma Croucher rounding off the afternoon with a hat-trick effort that resulted in her being awarded joint Player of the Match alongside Neve Mayes who impressed off the bench.

Real Bedford Ladies now face Stevenage at home in the Vitality Women’s FA Cup Third Round Qualifying this weekend, with momentum on their side after Sunday’s emphatic win.
