Ollie Swain Agrees to Join The Pirates

Real Bedford are thrilled to confirm the signing of defender Ollie Swain for the upcoming 2023/24 season.

The left-footed central defender signs for Real Bedford having spent most of his playing days with neighbours Bedford Town as well as stints for Hemel Hempstead, Dunstable Town, and most recently, Eynesbury Rovers.

Having started his career at Real Bedford as a teenager, when it was known as Bedford FC, Swain is now back at McMullen Park as The Pirates prepare for their first season in the Spartan South Midlands Premier Division.

On signing for Bedford, Swain said:

"I’m buzzing to have signed here at Bedford. From the first training session Rob and the players have said they want to win the league, so I’m delighted to try and play a part in making that possible.”

Real Bedford manager Rob Sinclair was delighted to get Swain through the door:

"I worked with Ollie at Eynesbury, and his defensive strengths alongside his physicality and aerial skill,s complement what we have already within the side. He’s a great character, first and foremost, which I look for in every signing, and I hope he can help the club achieve the targets we’re looking to get out of this campaign."

With the season right around the corner, Swain’s arrival is timely as Bedford prepare to face MK Irish this evening at McMullen Park in the opening league fixture of the season.

We wish Ollie all the best during his time here at McMullen Park.
