Charlie Smith Signs for The Pirates
Real Bedford are delighted to announce Charlie Smith as the latest player to sign for the Pirates ahead of the 2023/24 season.
The experienced midfielder spent his youth at Luton Town, with loan periods at Hitchin Town, St Albans City and Dunstable, whom he signed for in 2015.
With further spells at Barton Rovers, Hendon and Biggleswade Town, the 27-year-old heads to McMullen Park having built a great reputation across non-league football.
On signing for Bedford, Smith said:
"It's really nice to be here; it's a great set-up. Rob's style of play fits in really well with my strengths on the field, so I'm excited to get the season underway on Tuesday."
Real Bedford manager Rob Sinclair spoke highly about Bedford's latest acquisition:
"Charlie is one of the most gifted footballers around, I've known him since he was very young at Luton, so I'm delighted we've been able to secure his services here at McMullen Park. He's a great character and leader within the squad, and he's already made a great impact in his first few weeks here."
Having featured already during Real Bedford's pre-season campaign, including a superb set-piece goal against Moulton, Smith will likely become a firm fans favourite at McMullen Park.
We wish Charlie all the best during his time here at McMullen Park.
