Real Bedford’s Second-Half Seals 3-1 Comeback Win Over Enfield

Real Bedford mounted a strong comeback after conceding an early goal, securing a 3-1 victory over Enfield and extending their winning streak. Trailing 1-0 at half-time, the Pirates turned the game around with goals from Joey Evans and Ben Stevens, along with an own goal, sending them to the top of the league.

The game exploded into action as Enfield seized an early lead within the first minute. Capitalising on a quick corner, Taylor sent a precise cross into the box, where Matt Hurley rose to head it past Bedford’s keeper, putting Enfield up 1-0.

Following the opener, the match settled into a balanced rhythm, with both sides pressing for opportunities. In the 18th minute, Enfield’s Clark tried his luck from distance, but Bedford’s keeper McGregor confidently dealt with the shot.

Bedford soon began applying pressure of their own. In the 20th minute, a shot from the edge of the box forced Enfield’s keeper Edgeworth to tip it out for a corner. Bedford kept up the intensity, with Joey Evans finding space in the box, though his shot went straight to the keeper. Later, a corner kick reached Morrell at the back post, but his headed effort was glanced over by Shaheim Ward.

Despite Bedford’s persistent attacks, Enfield’s well-organised defence held firm, sending the Pirates into halftime trailing 1-0.

Second Half

Determined to turn the game around, Bedford came out firing in the second half, piling on the pressure and dominating possession. Bedford’s relentless attack finally paid off in the 61st minute when Josh Setchell sent a cross from the right into the Enfield box. The ball deflected off an Enfield defender and rolled into the net for an own goal, levelling the score at 1-1.

Enfield responded with a quick offensive effort in the 67th minute. Diakiesse slipped a pass through to Christou, who squared the ball to Ocran for a potential goal, but the linesman flagged Christou offside, keeping the score level.

Just eight minutes later, Bedford completed their comeback. An Enfield defender sent a high ball into the air, and Evans capitalised, rising above the keeper to head it home and put the Pirates in front at 2-1.

Bedford’s dominance continued, and in the 81st minute, Josh Setchell once again delivered a dangerous ball into the box. Enfield’s defence failed to clear it, and Ben Stevens seized the opportunity, blasting the ball into the net to extend Bedford’s lead to 3-1.

Real Bedford’s spirited second-half comeback secured a deserved 3-1 victory.

The Pirates are next at home on Saturday 2nd November, facing Kidlington in the league. Tickets for the match are available here.
