RBFC Ladies Sign Giddings and Townsend

Real Bedford Ladies are thrilled to announced the signing’s of Georgie Giddings (Left) and Eleanor Townsend (Right) to the first-team squad.

Giddings, brings a wealth of experience into The Pirates midfield. At 33, Georgie has represented MK Dons, London Bees, Reading, Chelsea and London City Lionesses before arriving at McMullen Park.

Townsend made her debut for the club coming off the bench against King’s Lynn on Sunday, having joined the club on dual registration from Cambridge United. The 17 year-old left-back still makes regular appearances for Cambridge United U18’s in the Junior Premier League.

Real Bedford Interim Manager, Georgia Clarke is pleased to bring Giddings into the fold:

“Due to injuries and departures we have been left a bit short in the midfield, so to be able to bring in an experienced figure like Georgie is a real positive at this crucial point in the season. Her understanding of the game and presence off the field will also be invaluable to the younger members of the squad.”

Clarke also praised Townsend for her impactful introduction into the squad:

“Eleanor is still a young player experiencing her first few weeks at senior level, however she has taken to the game really well. Having produced a solid performance off the bench against King’s Lynn, I’m grateful to have her as a part of the squad heading into the home stretch of the campaign.”

Both players are available for selection with immediate effect, with Real Bedford Ladies’ next game against Watford Development in the League Cup on Sunday.

We wish both Georgie and Eleanor all the best during their time here with The Pirates.
